Wine and beer business poised to explode in region

By WKTV News

(WKTV) - Lawmakers and spirits makers put their heads together Tuesday in Albany for the Wine and Beer summit.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo says the industry was ripe for development, but government was standing n the way.

With summits like this, the goal is for the government to help facilitate and market local products, as well as remove any road blocks to a now booming industry.

Gov. Cuomo said the industry was heavily regulated because of prohibition, and the industry changed dramatically, while the laws didn't keep the pace.
