(WKTV) - A 92-year-old woman was injured Tuesday in a car accident in the Marquee Cinema parking lot, New Hartford Police said.
Mary P. Carden, 92, of Whitesboro was transported via ambulance to St. Elizabeth's Hospital for a possible leg fracture.
According to police, Carden was adjusting her vehicle into a parking spot when she accidentally accelerated her vehicle forward while attempting to brake. Two passers-by saw her car moving forward and got out of their cars to attempt to help her. Carden's car moved forward, causing her open car door to strike a tree, crushing her leg in the open doorway.
Her car then moved forward toward the edge of the parking lot and a small embankment, at which point the two onlookers pulled her from the car to safety. Her unoccupied car then moved along the grassy area on Ellinwood Drive before crashing into a small retention pond and becoming partially submerged.
