By By JOLEEN FERRIS

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Frankfort woman accused of trying to kill her estranged husband rejected a plea offer Tuesday from the Oneida County District Attorney's Office.

Jenise Haddad Smith is accused of stabbing Todd Smith at his parents' Westmoreland home back in March.

Both Jenise Haddad Smith and Todd Smith were suffering from stab wounds when police arrived and both were hospitalized. It was weeks before police charged Haddad Smith.

Neither the prosecution nor Haddad Smith's defense attorney would disclose details of the plea offer she rejected Tuesday in Oneida County Court. However, her attorney said they rejected the offer because they have a strong case.

"It's a 'he said/she said' with sloppy forensics trying to support the prosecution," said defense attorney George Aney.

Haddad Smith is due back in Oneida County Court September 7h. Next, her attorney will make requests of the court and the judge could hold hearings.
