Woman celebrates 96th Flag Day in New York Mills

NEW YORK MILLS, N.Y. (WKTV) - On June 14th, 1777, the Continental Congress in Philadelphia adopted the stars and stripes as the national flag.

In New York Mills, at the Country Club Courts, the flag raising has a special meaning.

They just got a new flag pole there.

One resident is celebrating her 96th Flag Day.

Gertrude Pierce-Boyd said, " It just means that we are serving our country the way it should be done and respecting our country."
