Woman charged in connection with gift card theft

(WKTV) - A woman accused of using a stolen gift card at a Target in the Town of Clay has been arrested, the Oneida County Sheriff's Department said.

Shannon A. Brownell, 28, of Baldwinsville, is charged with criminal possession of stolen property in the fifth degree. She was arrested Tuesday.

According to officials, a purse was stolen from a car in the Town of Westmoreland on Jan. 4. In the purse was a gift card, which was used at the Target in the Town of Clay the day after the larceny complaint was filed.

Photographs of the people involved in the use of the stolen gift card were obtained from Target Asset Protection and given to the media. With the public's help, Brownell was identified as a suspect in the investigation. She is scheduled to appear in the Town of Clay Court on Feb. 25.
