(WKTV) - A 34-year-old Whitesboro woman faces driving while intoxicated charges after police say she nearly hit a police car twice.

Sandra Caughey, 34, of Whitesboro is charged with two misdemeanor counts of DWI and a misdemeanor count of aggravated DWI.

According to the Utica Police Department, around 1:15 a.m. Sunday officers were working a dedicated DWI patrol on Genesee Street. An approaching car almost struck the police car, officers said.

After stopping the car, police were speaking with the driver when she allegedly placed the car in reverse and nearly struck the police car. An officer was able to put the car in park, and when the driver got out of the car, police say she fell to the ground. Officers later determined she had a blood alcohol content of .27, more than three times the legal limit.
