Woman killed in bicycle accident in Southern Tier

OWEGO, N.Y. (WKTV) - New York State Police are investigating a car-bicycle accident that killed a Broome County woman Saturday afternoon.

According to State Troopers, 64-year-old Dorthy Rice, of Endicott, was riding a bicycle east on the shoulder of State Route 434 when she was hit from behind by a car driven by 41-year-old Brent Randall of Apalachin, near Binghamton.

Rice was sent to Wilson Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

According to police, no charges were yet filed, but the investigation into the accident is continuing.
