Woman pleads guilty to stealing more than $600,000

By WKTV News

UTICA, N.Y.(WKTV) - A Herkimer woman accused of stealing more than a half million dollars from a Utica doctor's office has pleaded guilty to one count of grand larceny.

Nancy Phillips was the office manager of Mohawk Valley Urology in Utica.

The Oneida County District Attorney's office says Phillips stole about $600,000 over a five-year period.

She was released on bail Thursday and will return to court for sentencing January 20th.

Prosecutors alleged Phillips used the money to pay credit card expenses and to pay off medical bills to care of her mother.

Attorney Les Lewis said, "I genuinely believe that she's a good person and that most of what she did was for others, not just out of greed for herself."
