Woman succumbs to injuries after South Utica car-pedestrian accident

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Utica Police have confirmed to NEWSChannel 2 that the woman seriously injured in Friday's car-pedestrian accident in South Utica has succumbed to her injuries.
72-year-old Gail Harvey is the victim. She was sent to St. Elizabeth Medical Center following the accident where she was on ventilator support.
The accident happened near the intersection of Genesee Street and Richardson Avenue.
Police say Harvey was crossing Richardson Venue around 10:00 Friday morning when she was hit by a white pick-up truck, driven by 37-year-old Jason Skermont, who was turning left from Genesee Street.
Harvey waited to cross and when she was hit, the driver slammed on the brakes immediately.
Harvey was thrown nearly ten feet.
A dozen people stopped to help her.
The driver has not been charged. The accident remains under investigation.
