Woman uninjured after crashing car into moving train

VERONA, N.Y. (WKTV) - A Herkimer County woman walked away unharmed after driving her car into the side of a moving Amtrak train in Verona on Sunday.

29-year-old Shelby Schumacher, of Middleville, was driving north on Blackmans Corners Road but failed to stop for the train, according to the Oneida County Sheriff's Office.

Schumacher's vehicle struck the Amtrak train, then came to rest on the railroad right of way.

Schumacher was transported to St. Luke's Hospital but had no injuries.

The Amtrak passenger train had 182 passengers and four Amtrak employees on board. No injuries were reported on the train.

The accident is still under investigation.
