Woman who crashed into marina charged with DWI

ILION, N.Y. (WKTV) - The woman rescued from the Ilion Marina Saturday evening has been charged with DWI, according to Ilion Police.

Officials say 53-year-old Mary Ellen Dibrango was drunk and drove her car into the Barge Canal, near the Ilion Marina boat launch. The current moved her car downstream, but she was able to safely exit the vehicle through a window.

Initially, police said that Dibrango did not know where her grandchildren were, so a frantic search ensued to make certain they were not in the water. Those children were found safe at home, but police did not confirm nobody else was in the water until after an investigation.
