Workshop held to demystify Refinancing and Home Equity Loans

By WKTV News

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Utica's HomeOwnership Center held a workshop Tuesday night to discuss re-financing, home equity and loans. Coordinators hoped to demystify the many myths on re-financing and home equity loans and how to qualify in today's market.

"I think there's a lot of misunderstanding about the refinance process," said HomeOwnership Coordinator Julie Jalowiec. "If you've fallen behind on a mortgage payment or two or if you're a little overwhelmed with mortgage payment they assume there's an option which might not be true if your credits been damaged a little bit. So you need to weigh all those options and refinance might not be a good option if you're not going to be in your home much longer or if you plan to sell."

The HomeOwnership Center at 1611 Genesee Street, Utica holds monthly workshops and is open to discussing new topics. If you'd like to suggest a topic or register for a workshop, call the center at 315-724- 4197.
