World War II Vet celebrates milestone birthday, military achievement

By WKTV News

(WKTV) - World War II Veteran, John Czyscon celebrated his 94th birthday, and his present...the end of a 22-year battle to get his military records right.
The long battle was for his rank in the army before his 1946 discharge, to be recognized by the military.
Czyscon's birthday celebration is also a celebration of his Bronze Star for serving in New Guinea, the Philippines and Japan.
Sunday, he was presented with his new honorable discharge certificate and military medals, after over 60 years of waiting.
"It took all these year to accomplish, but I figured some day I'd get it and I did," Czyscon said. "I feel so proud to have all these people here to help me celebrate."

John turned 94 yesterday, and he even got a citation from State Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi.
