Young business students compete to grow their brand

By WKTV News

MARCY, N.Y. (WKTV) - Budding entrepreneurs from around the state gathered at SUNY-IT for the Mohawk Valley qualifier of the New York State Business Plan Competition, Friday.
The young business hopefuls are competing for financial help down the line in order to help make their business plans a reality.
The event served to determine the teams that will move onto the State Finals, and compete for more than $500,000 in cash.
Organizers said that although the competitors are all student entrepreneurs, many are already succeeding in the real world.
"These are real business kids," said event chair, Kate Alcott. "Some of them have already filled LLCs, some of them have formed corporations, some of them have patents, some of them have actual sales."
The theme for the Valley's regional qualifier is "Start your business here."

The hope is that the business students will keep and grow their businesses, while remaining in the Mohawk Valley.
