Your chance to repel down Adirondack Bank building in Special Olympics fund raiser

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - It may sound a little "over the top" for a fund raising stunt, but it's all in an effort to raise money for the Special Olympics.

People who raise $1,000 will get the chance to repel down the Adirondack Bank building in downtown Utica.

Similar events will be held in Albany and Buffalo.

Special Olympics Games Regional Director Maria Alberico says that the money raised from the event will go to providing the Olympians with everything they need when they come to Utica to compete.

"We do not charge our athletes or care givers anything to be involved in our program," Alberico said. "(not) competition, training or state games or homes, bussing and lodging. We want to grow the program here in Central New York and with this event we are looking to add more athletes to our program."

More than 51,000 athletes take part in the Special Olympics in New York.
