Congressman Hanna responds to Syria debate

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Congressman Richard Hanna issued a statement regarding the current situation in Syria, Sunday.

Hanna responded to President Obama's decision, yesterday, to put potential U.S. intervention in the embattled nation, to a vote in Congress:

"The actions of the Syrian regime against its own people are heinous and go against all tenets of human decency. Elected representatives in Congress now have an opportunity to review and debate this important issue.

The American people need to know that any potential action in Syria would help achieve clearly-defined, limited and attainable policy goals that further U.S. interests in the region.

I look forward to learning more from the Administration in the days ahead."

President Obama will present the issue for Congressional approval, when it resumes session on September 9th.
