News Corp names ex-Bloomberg exec as Dow Jones CEO

By Associated Press

NEW YORK (AP) - News Corp. says Lex Fenwick, a Bloomberg LP executive, is the new CEO of Dow Jones & Co., the News Corp. subsidiary that publishes The Wall Street Journal and Dow Jones Newswires.

Fenwick takes over a position left open in July, when Les Hinton resigned in the wake of the phone-hacking scandal at another News Corp. publication, British tabloid News of the World.

Hinton had been chairman of News Corp.'s British newspaper arm for some of the years its staffers are alleged to have accessed voicemail messages of politicians, sports figures, and celebrities in search of scoops.

Fenwick became CEO of Bloomberg LP in 2001, when Michael Bloomberg ran for mayor of New York City. In 2008, he stepped down to start Bloomberg Ventures, a business-development arm.
