FORT EDWARD, N.Y. (AP) - Old Man Winter 1, would-be burglar 0.

The lingering winter turned out to be a blessing for police in an upstate New York village after a burglary suspect got his vehicle stuck in a snowbank while trying to flee the scene of a break-in.

Police in Fort Edward tell The Post-Star of Glens Falls (http://bit.ly/1lKHJQO ) that officers were called to a home where people said they arrived home Saturday afternoon to find a man running through the house and climbing out a window.

The man got into a sport utility vehicle that was parked nearby and tried to speed off, but the SUV got stuck in a snowbank. As the man tried to free the vehicle, someone called 911.

Officers soon arrived on the scene and arrested the 24-year-old suspect, who was charged with burglary.
