Cops: No evidence supports judge's toilet lid attack claim

By The Associated Press

WATERLOO, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say they haven't found any credible evidence to support a village judge's claim that he was hit over the head with a toilet tank lid during an attack outside his upstate New York courtroom last summer.

The police department in the Seneca County village of Waterloo tells local media outlets that an investigation by local police, state police and the district attorney's office has found no proof to support Justice Roger Barto's claim.

Barto told police that he was hit in the head with a porcelain toilet tank top and choked as he was leaving his courtroom after an arraignment late on the night of Aug. 31.

Waterloo police say Barto stopped cooperating with the investigation in mid-September.
