DEPUTIES: Woman used a shovel to assault victim

OXFORD, N.Y. (WKTV) - A Chenango County woman is accused of assaulting another person with shovel.

The Chenango County Sheriff's Department says Trista Welch, 21, of Oxford struck another person with a shovel on Sunday around 11:00 A.M. Officials say the force of the blow was so strong it broke the shovel.

Welch is charged with 2nd degree Felony Assault and 4th degree Criminal Mischief.

Welch was arraigned in Oxford Town Court and released on her own recognizance. She will answer to the charges at a later date.
