Elderly pedestrian struck in hit-and-run crash in Madison County

GEORGETOWN, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Madison County Sheriff's Department is investigating a hit and run accident that took place around 7:25 pm Wednesday evening on State Route 26. Officials say a 76 year old man walking on the road was struck by a passing vehicle between East Hill Road and Bronder Hollow Road in Georgetown.

The only description is that is was a smaller car, dark in color. No make or model information is available. The vehicle is missing the passenger side mirror as a result of the accident.

The man was taken to Upstate Hospital in Syracuse with non-life threatening injuries. Officials will release his identity once family members are notified.
