Glens Falls mother sentenced for covering up child's death
GLENS FALLS, N.Y. (AP) - A Glens Falls woman who admitted helping cover up the killing of her 5-year-old son has been sentenced to 1 to 3 years in a shock incarceration program.
Local media outlets report 24-year-old Jennie Mattison was sentenced Thursday in Washington County Court, where she had pleaded guilty to hindering prosecution for initially lying about how Gary Carpenter was injured before he died on Nov. 16.
Prosecutors said the child was abused for weeks as punishment by 24-year-old Brandon Warrington and died of a massive head injury.
Warrington is serving 25 years to life in prison after being convicted of murder, manslaughter and endangering the welfare of a child.
Mattison testified against Warrington.
Shock incarceration includes substance abuse and education programs.
Glens Falls is 45 miles north of Albany.
