ELMA, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say a 66-year-old man is dead after he was hit by a tractor while crossing a rural western New York road.

The Erie County Sheriff's Office tells local media outlets that Kenneth Gliss was hit by the vehicle around 5:10 p.m. Monday while crossing a poorly lit section of road near his home in the town of Elma, just east of Buffalo.

Gliss was pronounced dead at the scene.

Deputies say the International Harvester tractor was driven by a 50-year-old man.

Police say their investigation is continuing.
