Paladino: I won't play 'spoiler' in NY gov's race

By By the Associated Press

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - Rising Republican candidate Carl Paladino says he won't stay in the New York governor's race if he doesn't win the Republican primary, saying the GOP can't afford to let Democrat Andrew Cuomo win.

Paladino says he won't play the spoiler after previously saying he would stay in the race to the November elections.

But Paladino tells NY1's "Inside City Hall" Wednesday that Republicans can't let Cuomo win because he is the poster child for all that is wrong with New York state government.

There was no immediate comment from Republican frontrunner Rick
Lazio or Cuomo.

A Quinnipiac University poll shows Paladino gaining on Lazio, but both Republicans falling far behind Cuomo.
