NEW BALTIMORE, N.Y. (AP) - State police say a 33-year-old New York City man drove the wrong way on the Thruway in both directions without lights on before crashing south of Albany.
Troopers say they spotted a vehicle with no headlights on traveling north on Interstate 87 in Saugerties (SAW'-ger-teez) around 3:30 a.m. Sunday. The driver pulled off at  a travel plaza, where he spun around and headed south in the northbound lanes.
The driver then made a U-turn and headed north in the northbound lanes before moving to the southbound lanes and again driving in the wrong direction. He crashed in New Baltimore and was caught after a brief foot chase.
The charges against the driver, Julio Romano-Baez of the Bronx, include reckless endangerment and fleeing a police office. In formation on his lawyer wasn't available.
