Polls Open for Primaries: 19th, 21st, 22nd Districts locally

(WKTV) - Today is Primary Day in New York for the United States House of Representatives and the United States Senate. Polls are open from noon until 9:00 p.m. It's the first time voters will hit the polls in June, rather than in September.

There are three congressional primaries locally.

The 22nd Congressional District is made up the former 24th District. Republican Incumbent Richard Hanna is being challenged by Michael Kicinski of Earlville. The winner of this Republican primary will face Democrat Dan Lamb of Tompkins County in November.

If you live in Northern Herkimer or Lewis County, there's a Republican primary in the 21st Congressional District. Investment banker Matt Doheny from Watertown is taking on Kellie Greene, a shipping consultant from Sackets Harbor. Doheny is also on the Conservative and Independence lines. Incumbent Bill Owens is the Democrat in this race.

In the 19th District, a Democratic Primary between Julian Schreibman, the Former Ulster County Democratic Chair faces Joel Tyner, a Dutchess County legislator. The 19th District includes all of Otsego County. The winner will face Republican Chris Gibson in November.

For the U.S. Senate, three Republicans are facing off to take on Incumbent Kirsten Gillibrand in November: Attorney Wendy Long, Nassau County Comptroller George Maragos and Congressman Bob Turner.

NEWSChannel 2 will have complete coverage of these primaries throughout the day on and tonight on NEWSChannel 2 at 11:00.
