Speed week has law enforcement out in full force

By WKTV News

(WKTV) - It is Speed Week in New York State this week, and
Troopers will be out and cracking down while looking for excessive speed, unsafe lane changes and distracted driving among other offenses.
Excessive speed continues to be one of the leading causes of motor vehicle deaths.
Last year, 9,600 were issued during speed week, and this year Troopers are looking to crack down even more.
"What drivers can expect to see is stepped up enforcement effort and each one of our troops will be running numerous speed traffic details," said Lt. Colonel George Beach. "Were asking our partner agencies and law-enforcement to join us so that there would be a campaign.
"Hopefully very visible and aggressive effort to address speeding and slow people down."
Drivers can face a $1,000 fine and up to 11 points on their license for speeding and aggressive driving.
