SWINE FLU UPDATE:
Mexican health officials say they are optimistic that new cases, as well as the death rate from swine flu, are leveling off. Officials in Mexico say they have confirmed 300 swine flu cases and 12 deaths.

TWO LOCAL FLU CASES COME BACK NEGATIVE:
In Oneida County, the first two samples have come back negative.

In Herkimer County, there's one suspected case.

In Lewis County, still four suspected cases.

And a Health Department Official in Otsego County says there are two suspected cases.

PHONE UPGRADE IN JAIL

The Utica Police Department has installed a new phone system at the city jail. There is one in each cell, and inmates can make as many collect-calls when they are being held as they want.

The city says they paid nothing for the system, and they'll profit 40% from each call made.

TEEN STRUCK BY TRUCK

Rainy weather may have caused a car-bicycle accident in the Town of Floyd last night along Route 365. Oneida County Sheriff's Deputies say 66-year-old Sharon Grimm, of Inlet, hit 15-year-old Steffen Meyers, of Floyd while riding his bicycle. The teen only had minor injuries.

BAR AND GRILL OPENS IN UTICA:
A new bar and grill opened in Downtown Utica today on Hopper Street. Lunches and dinners will be served, along with providing local entertainment, such as bands and DJs. The bar is handicapped accessible. A Kentucky Derby party will be held at the bar tomorrow.
