Madison Co. Leaders Respond to Partnership Plan:
Madison County leaders held a news conference following their Board of Legislators meeting this morning. They talked about the Oneida County partnership plan and several concerns they have about the proposal. Madison County leaders say that early last year they renewed a commitment to work with the Nation to hammer out an agreement to many outstanding issues. To this date, that agreement has not come. After looking over the partnership plan, the Board of Supervisors Chairman says it failed to adequately address a number of important issues.

Inmates Become Students:
Inmates at the Oneida County Jail are becoming students for five weeks. It's part of the Workforce Success Program. An instructor visits the jail to teach classes on interviewing techniques, communication skills, and leadership training. The program started as a federally funded program, but taxpayers of Oneida County now foot the 145-thousand dollar bill.

Skelton Sentenced To 2 To 4 Years In Prison:
The Jamaican native who pleaded guilty to murdering a man 16 years ago is off to prison. Donovan Skelton received two to four years in prison for negligent homicide and two and a half to five years for a criminal possession of a weapons charge. Skelton took a plea deal in the case of a shooting that killed an innocent bystander outside of a Utica bar in 1993.

Sullivan In Court To Accept or Reject Plea Offer:
State police investigator Matthew Sullivan is scheduled to be back in Oneida County Court today, to accept or reject a plea deal. The Oneida County District Attorney's office extended the plea deal to Sullivan in April. Sullivan still pleaded not guilty to the eight charges against him, including two counts of DWI and fleeing from a police officer.

China Marks Earthquake Anniversary:
It's been one year since a deadly earthquake in central China killed more than 90,000 people. National leaders, including the Chinese president, are expected to attend ceremonies mourning the dead and recommitting the nation to rebuilding in the mountainous region.
