Partnership Plan To Be Discussed:
The Oneida County Legislature is talking about the Partnership Plan, between the county and the Oneida Indian Nation today at 2:00. No vote will be taken at that time. The question at hand is who will benefit from the plan, and by how much. The plan is to distribute about $15 million from the Nation to local municipalities.
Sullivan Rejects Plea Deal:
State Police Investigator Matthew Sullivan has rejected a plea offer. Sullivan is facing 10 counts, including DWI, after being pulled over for speeding back in February. Sullivan also allegedly fled the scene after being pulled over. Assistant District Attorney Rob Bauer says the DA's office isn't willing to reduce any of the charges.
NTSB Hearing Into Buffalo plane crash Continues:
Today is the second day of a National Transportation Safety Board hearing into a February 12th commuter plane crash near Buffalo. The panel will likely look into the hiring and training of the pilot and first officer at the controls during the crash. Previous testimony shows the pilot was never given hands-on training on a key safety system.
Baghdad Shooting Probe Launched:
A deadly shooting in Baghdad is leading the U.S. military to investigate the mental health care it offers its troops. the probe is being launched a day after Army Sergeant John Russell allegedly gunned down five people at the U.S. base clinic. The sergeant's father is speaking out, saying he was "broken" by the clinic before he stole another soldiers weapon and allegedly turned on his fellow soldiers.
Pope Benedict XVI to visit West Bank:
Pope Benedict visits the West Bank today. During his trip he will go to Bethlehem, thought to be the birth place of Jesus. Pope Benedict is calling for "a sovereign Palestinian homeland" that can be "secure and at peace with its neighbors." The statement is a bold one, it's the Pope's strongest public support yet for Palestinian statehood.
