Early Morning Fire Under Investigation:
People were forced out into the streets this morning after flames broke out. Utica firefighters responded around 2:30 am. The blaze started at back of the Easy Mart at the corner of Bleecker and Nichols Streets in East Utica. People living in the apartments above the store were safely evacuated. The cause of the fire is still under investigation this morning.
Legislature To Vote on Partnership Plan in 2 Weeks:
In two weeks on May 27th, the Oneida County Legislature will take a vote on the controversial Partnership Plan between the county and Oneida Indian Nation. Wednesday, a meeting was held where most public comments were in favor of the plan. Several employees from the Oneida Indian Nation explained why they are for the agreement. However, those opposed also made sure their voices were heard.
New Ads Opposing Partnership Plan Begin Airing:
You may be seeing some new advertisements on cable channels today. The ads are of county leaders who are opposing the new partnership plan between the county and the Oneida Indian Nation. Save Oneida County dot-com is already up on the internet. Legislators say the commercials are meant to inform the public about why the deal is bad and to urge them to talk to their legislators to about the agreement.
Bones Found in Taberg Undergoing Tests:
Some possible human remains have been found on some property in Taberg. A pool company digging for a new pool on Ranney Road in Taberg discovered the bones. First they found a skull, then more bones. In total six bones have been found. Police are investigating and say this doesn't look like an old burial ground. The bones are currently undergoing some tests to provide new information about the where the remains came from, and how long they're been buried.
Biggest Pornography Bust Ever in Oneida County:
Disturbing details from State Police and the Oneida County DA's office. They say they've busted the biggest child pornography case in county history, with the youngest victims. This morning, seven men are under arrest. They are charged with possessing or promoting a sexual performance by a child. All but two have posted bail.
