School Budget Votes Being Held:
Voters take to the polls today, to make decisions on local school budgets and school board candidates. School districts across the state and here locally are hoping that voters will support their proposed school budget. 21 districts are asking for an increase in their budget, while 7 are not. Historically, voters have passed school budgets in high numbers but the sluggish economy could have an effect on voters choices at the polls this year.

Hundreds Turn Out For Partnership Plan Meeting:
Oneida Indian Nation CEO Ray Halbritter says if a partnership plan with the county goes through he can guarantee economic growth. He says the nation will create one thousand new jobs within the next 5 years. More than 500 people turned out to voice their opinion regarding the proposed Oneida County Partnership Plan at Monday night's meeting held at VVS High School in Verona.

UPD Lieutenant Disciplined:
A female police lieutenant in Utica says she experienced discrimination when it came to a promotion for the captain position. Lieutenant Grace Pruitt received a letter Monday for not cooperating with an internal UPD investigation on the issue. Pruitt's attorney says the move was in response to Pruitt's filing a discrimination complaint against the city in February. The state division of human rights will hold its first fact-finding hearing into the matter on June 3rd.

Economic Data Out:
Some important economic indicators are being released today. The government is expected to announce reports on the housing market with last months data on housing. A better than anticipated earnings report from Lowe's Tuesday could mean an uptick. Also the 2nd largest home improvement retailer, Home Depot, issues earning reports today.

New Fuel Efficiency Standards Announced Today:
New auto standards will be announced today at the White House. This marks the first time pollution reduction from vehicles is being coupled with increased fuel efficiency. President Barack Obama plans to propose emission limits for cars and a 35.5-mile-per-gallon standard by 2016.
