Floyd Man Struck by Tractor Trailer:
A pedestrian is lucky to be alive this morning, after a late night walk along Route 49 in Floyd landed him in the hospital. 23 year old Brandon Hanrahan of Whitesboro was hit by a tractor trailer around 10 Wednesday night. He was rushed to St. Elizabeth Medical Center and treated for abrasions to his face and arms. He is in stable condition. The driver of the trailer was 23 year old William Pearson. No tickets have been issued in the accident.
Woman's Leg Amputated After Serious Accident in New Hartford:
A Clinton woman was injured in a serious motorcycle accident Wednesday night. Doctors had to amputate her leg when she was rushed to a local hospital from the scene of the accident. New Hartford Police say 42 year-old Birgit Aiello was driving the bike when it was hit by a car on Commercial Drive in New Hartford. No tickets have been issued. Traffic came to a halt for two hours while crews cleaned up the scene. The accident is still under investigation.
Obama To Address National Security:
President Barack Obama is preparing to deliver a major address on national security this morning. This comes after the Senate denied his request for $80 million to close Guantanamo Bay prison. Wednesday's 90-6 vote underscores widespread apprehension among lawmakers over Obama's plans to shut down the prison.
Search Continues For Helicopter Crew:
A massive search is underway off the San Diego coast for survivors of a navy helicopter crash. The crew members could be expected to survive about 36 hours after the crash, based on water temperature, body weight and other factors. The helicopter went down on Tuesday night. Searchers have recovered three bodies and are looking for 2 more members of the crew.
American Idol Upset!:
It's an American Idol upset. Underdog Kris Allen beat out Adam Lambert to take the title after nearly 100 million viewer votes were cast. A stunned Allen say he didn't "even know what to feel" when the results were announced. His plans for the future, he says he's going to Disney World.
