NEW YORK MILLS, NY (WKTV) - Area School district officials and business leaders gathered Tuesday in New York Mills for a conference ironing out a single plan for curbing the spread of Novel H1N1 or Swine flu.

The virus is being contributed to the death of a Cornell University student and an adolescent in Oneida County whose name wasn't released.

On Tuesday, officials with the Oneida County Health Department outlined new guidelines for districts and businesses to follow.

Here are a few of those guidelines mentioned at the briefing:

*stay home until you are free from fever for 24 hours.

*don't shut down schools unless a large group falls ill with flu.

*use same cleaners that have been used thus far; there are no special disinfectant for removing particles.

*masks are not recommended.

State officials have not confirmed it, but a swine flu vaccine will reportedly be ready during the first week of October and is expected to cost about $15, which health officials say should be covered by most insurers.

Officials are also stressing the importance of getting a "seasonal flu" shot.
