UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Health officials in Oneida County plan to administer hundreds of their remaining H1N1 vaccines within about a week, according to spokesperson Ken Fanelli.
600 Doses were administered during the County's initial Swine Flu vaccine clinic on Wednesday, November 11, Fannelli said, and more doses are expected.
However, the date for when that will happen is unknown.
What the health department does know, is that it plans to start vaccinations in schools across the area - especially in northern Oneida County, based on the colder weather those school districts contend with.
About 900 doses are left after Wednesday's clinic, and more shipments are expected in the coming weeks. However, health officials said private doctors must also help.
Some local doctors are out of the vaccine, others, NEWSChannel Two viewers have complained, are not interested in being involved with H1N1 vaccinations.
Fanelli anticipates that all residents throughout the area will have access to the H1N1 vaccines eventually, but urges people to try getting them from their own doctor before seeking a county vaccination clinic.
There are no further H1N1 clinics in Oneida County scheduled at this time, the same is true for Otesgo County.
Herkimer County County scheduled two clinics for next week.
The first will take place Wednesday from 12 pm to 7 pm at the Methodist Church in Herkimer.
A second clinic is scheduled for Friday at the same time at Herkimer County Community College.
