Herkimer holds its first H1N1 clinic

HERKIMER, N.Y. (WKTV) - In efforts to sweep away the chance of H1N1, hundreds of Herkimer residents are being vaccinated.

The Herkimer Methodist Church on Prospect Street was serving as a vaccination center for those in Herkimer County Wednesday.

Helene Cecconi, a nurse supervising the H1N1 clinic said there should be enough vaccines for everyone in risk groups who want one.

"We are very busy," Cecconi said. "We are working hard here to move the crowds along and it looks like we have enough swine flu vaccine to get through 7 p.m. Tonight"

Roughly 450 vaccinations had been given out shortly before 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Wednesday's H1N1 clinic ran until 7 p.m., but there are still two more chances to get vaccinated - Friday, November 20 at Herkimer County Community College from Noon - 7 p.m. and next Tuesday, November 24 at the Town of Webb School from Noon - 5 p.m.
