Grants to area organizations hope to improve public recycling
(WKTV) - 80 collection bins are headed to the Mohawk Valley to help improve public recycling. The New York State Association for Reduction, Reuse and Recycling (NYSAR3) announced the following organizations as winning recipients of a bin grant to provide beverage container collection bins to improve the public recycling program in the Utica and Frankfort area: • Oneida County Sports Authority received 10 collection bins The grant is funded as part of an Environmental Benefit Project and offered through a partnership between NYSAR3 and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. The collection bins can be used either indoors or outdoors and are intended for the collection of both deposit and non-deposit containers. The New York State Association for Reduction, Reuse and Recycling provides expertise on waste reduction, reuse and recycling issues and practices to improve the environment. With over 200 members, the coalition of businesses, nonprofits, government agencies, and private citizens supports recycling programs and related educational programs, and is a state affiliate of the National Recycling Coalition.
