Utica police and fire chief join in city Green Week events

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Utica's police chief and fire chief were out on their day off Saturday helping clean up the City of Utica in celebration of Earth Week. The city officials where out along Sunset Avenue just off of the arterial.

Police Chief Mark Williams and Fire Chief Russell Brooks joined Utica City Councilman Jim Zecca to take part in Utica's "Clean and Green Initiative." Williams and all of these other folks in his group specifically targeted the West Utica neighborhoods near the Arterial.

Utica Police Chief Mark Williams said, "this is about quality of life in the neighborhood. If you let things like this fester, basically what happens is people start thinking the neighborhood is in decline and no one cares about it, encourages things to get out of control."
