UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Students at Jones Elementary School in south Utica are took a break Thursday in between their New York State tests to take care of the planet.

The "Green Team" is collaborating with Stash's Hit and Run on Oriskany Street all week long to conduct a bottle and can drive that raises money for the school. At the same time, the students are also learning about the importance of recycling.

"Our green team is so excited to recycle every week," said Green Team Coordinator Michelle Diliberto. "They sort, they sift. It's amazing. I mean, when you put it in kids' hands, they really step up."

If you'd like to help, you can bring your bottles to Stash's Hit and Run in Utica this week and they will then donate the redemption money to Jones Elementary School. Stash's Hit and Run is matching the donations all week long.
