It's the final day of campaigning for the two men vying to become Oneida County District Attorney for the next four years.
For the incumbent, Democrat Scott McNamara, there are no interrogations, and no trials to prosecute today.
For his opponent, Republican, David Longeretta, there are no accused citizens to meet with or paperwork to sift through. And for a position both men say is not about politics, today is about playing the political game one more time.
McNamara voted early this morning, then headed to his mother's Deansboro Diner for breakfast. While he's not in the office, the phone still rings, and a call from Congressman Michael Arcuri wished him luck.
15 years in the district attorney's office as an assistant and including 10 months as the D.A. hasn't been enough for the Deansboro native.
"After we leave here we're going down to Oriskany Falls, I played legion baseball for the legion in Oriskany Falls, and we're going to Waterville," McNamara said. "That's where I went to high school. After that we're just going to different parts of the county."
David Longeretta spent time in Rome before heading to his former New Hartford elementary school to vote, and greet voters.
"It's exciting," Longeretta said. "I'm really, really enjoying it. It's allowing me to get out to meet all the workers... to get to all the polls... to meet more people, shake more hands get my message across and i think it's resonated throughout the county."
Both candidates will continue greeting voters throughout the rest of the day before reaching their respective headquarters sometime later this evening.
