UTICA - Prior to the Mohawk Valley Frontiers' Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Luncheon Utica mayor David Roefaro told Newschannel Two's Evan White that he plans to hire someone to address diversity in city government.

"I'm going to hire someone in my administration and we don't know who that will be yet to address these concerns for hiring for instance for racial equality I'm looking at hiring someone in my administration to handle that so we can make sure that we are doing that correctly," said Roefaro.

The mayor didn't specify when the administrative official would be hired.

Utica NAACP president Roy Duhart said earlier that he'd sent a letter to the mayor recently aimed at increasing minority representation on the mayor's transition team.

Roefaro says he hasn't seen the letter yet but plans to address it once its received.
