Marcy testing out new voting machines for primary electionMARCY, NY (WKTV) - The Town of Marcy is preparing to try out a new kind of voting machine for next week's primary. The machine may be different, but officials say it's as easy as marking your ballot, and putting it in the scanner. There is no more lever pulling this voting booth; when you go to vote, you will get a paper ballot. In the most important part of the process, make sure you get the correct ballot for your party - Democrat or Republican. Then, you will go into a privacy booth where you will make your choices. Once you've made your choices, it's over to the scanner tabulator. You feed your ballot into a scanner and then, voila! You've voted! It is a change, but Oneida County Election Commissioners say they believe voters are ready. Only the Town of Marcy is taking part in this pilot program for next week's primary and the general election. Once it's over, the State Board of Elections will collect information from municipalities about how it went. They're hoping it goes well, because next year, they're looking at scanner tabulators state wide. |
