Herkimer County democrats outline new platform for upcoming electionHERKIMER, N.Y. (WKTV) - Herkimer County democrats says they are hoping to take more seats on the county legislature in this upcoming election. Cathy Pumilio, the county committee chairwoman and other democrats outlined a new platform Thursday afternoon. On it were issues such as healthcare reform, and the economy. Currently, the democrats only hold 5 seats on the 17 seat legislature. "If we can win a little bit and everything runs smoothly with no problems, and then everyone pulls together and moves on, that's the best I could ask for," Pumilio said. "Any victory that is a victory for the democratic party is a victory for the people of Herkimer County," said Fran Grates, of the Herkimer County Democratic Committee. "It is not a matter of taking over the legislature," said Sylvia Rowan, Republican Chairperson. "It is to work together for the better of the county and make it a better community." The Republican Committee Chair says this year is the first time ever republicans will run for all 17 legislative seats. |
