DETROIT - Former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney won his first primary victory on Tuesday evening, taking victory in his home-state of Michigan. This was a state he needed desperately to give his yet-victorious campaign a boost and prepare for the upcoming South Carolinian.

Senator John McCain came in second, disappointed that the victory he held here in 2000 was not repeated. Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee came in third place all followed by 'Law & Order" star and former Senator Fred Thompson. 30 GOP Delegates were up in the state of Michigan.

"It's a victory of optimism over Washington-style pessimism," Romney said on his victory night. "The people of Michigan said they believe in someone who is going to fight for them."

Hillary Clinton won the Democratic side of the race were no delegation would be awarded. Uncommitted came in second.

LAS VEGAS - Democratic front-runners Senators Hillary Clinton, Barrack Obama and John Edwards participated in a debate hosted by NBC News and MSNBC in Las Vegas, Nevada. The state will host their own caucus on January 19.

Brian Williams and Tim Russert moderated the debate with email submitted questions being read by Natalie Morales.

Race seemed to be the primary issue throughout the beginning. Clinton and Obama were questioned on their campaigns and racial issues and accusations surrounding them. “We both sometimes have exuberant and uncontrollable supporters,” Clinton said. “... I think it’s appropriate on Dr. King’s birthday to recognize that all of us are here as a result of what he did.”

In a rare format component, candidates were invited to ask their opponents questions.
