UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Fire investigators were back on the scene Monday morning where a massive fire along James Street in Utica killed four people.

There were 18 people in that apartment building when it went up flames Sunday, 14 of which made it out alive.

The names of those killed in the fire were released Monday afternoon.

Douglas Crane, 24, Terry Singh, 28, Glenard Drake, 44, and Bruce Bush, 41, were revealed as the four victims of the fatal fire that broke out shortly after 1:30 a.m. Sunday morning. Seven hours later, the apartment building lay burnt and charred.

The back of the building has been pretty much destroyed, with flames so intense, it started collapsing. Fire investigators know the blaze started in a back downstairs kitchen, then traveling up through the building.

Connie Drake said she was the wife of Glen Drake, one of the victims.
The couple did not live together, but Connie Drake says she did lose the love of her life.

"Him not being around anymore...he was really my crutch," she said. "When my mother dies, he really took me in and helped me with my mother. I miss him. And I was hoping that they would tell me that when they went up there, that he wasn't in there, that is what I was hoping for."

Meanwhile, Utica Fire Marshal Raymond Beck has said he hand delivered an application to the building's landlord to register the building, but the owner never complied. Fire Marshal Beck said he couldn't inspect the building without permission from the owner.
