Roefaro reflects on election the morning after

Dave Dellecese

UTICA - There probably aren't words adequate to describe the relief that David Roefaro, or any winning candidate, really, feels the morning after election night.

Roefaro spent the morning relaxing and enjoying breakfast at the Marr Logg - right next door to his family's business.....with much the same friends and supporters who were with him last night as the numbers came in. Talked about all the Democrats that are in office right now at the state and federal level - from Governor Eliot Spitzer to Congressman Michael Arcuri, Senator Charles Schumer to Assemblywoman RoAnn Destito, Roefaro says this puts Utica in a very advantageous position when it comes to getting things done.

"I have a conduit to all of them," Roefaro said. "I'm very very close-knit to all of them i get along with all of them and I think that will bode well for this area for the Utica area that we do have those connections to bring funding to bring state and federal funding to Utica because that's what you need to build our economic base, that's what you need to build Utica."

Roefaro says current Mayor Tim Julian did call him last night to wish him well. He says Julian extended a helping hand for the transition into the mayor's office and that he'll likely take him up on it.

Roefaro said it's too soon to talk about any changes in terms of city department heads including the position of Public Safety Commissioner.
