Chilelli wins race for Herkimer County's third legislative district

A winner has been declared in the race for Herkimer County's third legislative district.

Democratic challenger Joseph Chilelli has defeated incumbent Dee Walawender by just 15 votes.

Chilelli is the leader of a citizens' group that formed in opposition to the proposed new county jail.

He had held an eleven vote lead on election night.
