Power Lines

The state is pulling the plug, at least for now, on New York Regional Interconnect's proposal to build a 200 mile long power line extending from Marcy to Orange County.  The Public Service Commission has informed officials of NYRI that they cannot schedule a required a public hearing on the project until the Albany-based company's application complies with certain requirements.  NYRI says it will comply with the PSC's requests and resubmit its applications.

The price tag for NYRI's power line project is estimated to be around a half-billion dollars.  The proposed right-of-way would trample over businesses and homes along its path.
