NYRI withdraws power line application
(WKTV) - New York Regional Interconnect has said they will withdraw their power line application, a spokesperson from the New York State Public Service Commission said Friday.
It was Friday afternoon that NYRI said they would withdraw the application for a power line projection that would stretch from Marcy to Orange County to deliver power downstate. Jim Denn, of the Public Service Commission said that at the hearing, NYRI cited a FERC ruling of March 31. NYRI's attorney announced the withdrawal at Friday's evidentiary hearing before Judge Jeffrey Stockholm, an administrative law judge. Judge Stockholm asked the company to file a formal letter by Monday citing the application's withdrawal, and NYRI said that it would have the letter Monday. It was 2006 when NYRI officials first came to Oneida County to meet the public. In October 2006, Governor George Pataki signs a bill, at SUNYIT, stating the power company can not take land through eminent domain. In February of 2007, NYRI sued Pataki over the bill. And just a few months ago, some members of the Public Service Commission suggested that the proposed line does not need to be built, and there is no need for extra power. The project had been in the hands of the Public Service Commission for almost a year. Most Popular |
