Power Lines

WASHINGTON (AP) - Environmentally friendly wind farms could soon pop up throughout New York State.  Officials for New York Regional Interconnect are in Washington this week, making their case to lawmakers, since their proposed power line project has met a great deal of opposition.

Aides for Senators Schumer and Clinton are scheduled to meet with NYRI on Thursday about the wind farms.

NYRI officials call the proposal only a component in the state's long-run energy plans.

NYRI wants to build power lines from Marcy to Orange County, trampling over businesses and communities in its path.
